IN THE CLASSROOM

Philosophy of

Education

I believe education should...

  • Foster a love of learning for a lifetime.
  • Seek to develop a student' skills around their particular interests and passions.
  • Encourage a questioning mind and provide learning opportunities involving critical thinking.
  • Promote respect for all things.
  • Motivate all children to achieve success both in school and in life.
  • Emphasize responsibility, independence and cooperation.
  • Celebrate differences and work diligently to provide a culturally relevant education.
  • Provide a stimulating atmosphere yet a safe environment which supports risk-taking.
  • Incorporate literature often and throughout interdisciplinary instruction.
  • Utilize technology as a relevant tool to enhance learning.
  • Translate classroom learning concepts into real-world application.
  • Allow for discovery learning and in multiple configurations- individual work, partnerships, small group, or whole class.
  • Present information in a variety of approaches, such as visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, and aural, offering the diverse learner opportunity to connect and grow.
  • Encourage the learner to achieve high personal goals.

"Ms. Leah Segrin is a wonderful asset to IMontessori School. Ms. Segrin displays a great love for children of all ages in her care. She came to our School with goals and high expectations, which she overly achieved.
We are blessed to have Ms.Segrin as part of our team!"

-Mandy Sapough

Director at IMontessori School

"Ms. Segrin is a responsible, organized and caring person. She was an assistant director at the childcare institution who managed office duties, communicated with parents effectively, and assisted with a number of needs for the teachers. She is a hard working, honest and a reliable person who was a pleasure to work with in the same environment. She is caring and patient to children which is a very important aspect to have as a teacher. Ms. Segrin will be a great addition to any childcare and educational environment."

Leah, You're an awesome teacher. I believe in my whole heart that all schools (especially Montessori) need gardening programs. Yes, she's right you are a blessing to have with us!
